Performance based design for Structures

Together with our partners we deliver a holistic design approach even for combustible buildings. The integration of fire safety engineering at an early stage allows for maximizing the outcome. We aim for the involvement of authorities at an early stage and provide complementary workshops to facilitate design exceeding the standard solution.

Modelling, advanced calculation and FE Analysis

We perform simulations to predict the behaviour of steel, concrete and timber components exposed to various fire conditions. For our projects, we optimize the fire protection based on finite element modelling and our testing database.

From fire resistance testing to smart testing

We have conducted and organized more than 1300 fire tests comprising standard tests in various scales, compartment experiments and ad-hoc testing.
By smart testing, the outcome of testing can be multiplied exceeding a standard. We collaborate with several major fire labs and provide planning, execution and analysis of test.

Expert opinion "Fire Safety"

IGNIS can help clients to draft, develop and issue technical expert opinion documents with respect to fire safety. Dr. M. Klippel is accredited by the Swiss association VKF (Vereinigung Kantonaler Gebäudeversicherungen) to write reports with respect to fire resistance of products and building solutions. The reports can be based on standards, simulations and expertise.

Workshops, seminars and courses

We provide knowledge transfer to architects, engineer, practitioners, authorities and other practitioners actively involved or touched by the fire design. We help our customers to learn about new rules, coming testing and design standards and offer guidance through the complex world of design models.

e-learning

IGNIS is involved in knowledge transfer from research to practice. The work is done together with universities to develop methodologies and tools for future learning. The content includes digital media as hand-held interfaces.

Some movies have been developed to facilitate a better understanding of fire dynamics and combustible building members:
